Today is 32nd death anniversary of Poet & lyricist..Shamsul Huda Bihari...known as S. H. Bihari!

His songs widely used in Hindi films..which are still popular!

PRODUCER OF MAXIMUM FILMS..D. RAMA NAIDU!

Legendary Indian Film Producer D. Rama Naidu!

Four years over..Legendary Indian (Telugu) Film Producer D. Rama Naidu left this world!
Ramanaidu's hit Telugu film 'Soggadu' (1976). 

Founder of 'Suresh Productions'..Daggubati Rama Naidu produced 135 films in 13 Indian languages and holds the 'Guinees Book of Records' for the most films produced in less time!

Some of his noted films are Telugu 'Jeevana Tarangdu' (1973) and 'Soggadu' (1976) which won Filmfare awards..And Bengali 'Asukh' (1999) which won National Award!

He produced popular Hindi films like 'Prem Nagar' (1974) to 'Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehate Hai' (1999). 

Ramanaidu was father of actor D.Venkatesh who acted in his 'Anari' (1993) and grandfather of new actor Rana Daggubati!

D. Ramanaidu conferred with 'Padma Bhushan' by 'Government of India' and in 2009 he received lifetime 'Dadasaheb Phalake Award' for his outstanding contribution to India Cinema!

Today is 75st Death Anniversary of..father of our Indian Cinema.. Dhundiraj Govind Phalake..known as Dadasaheb Phalake!

Phalake made our India's first full-length feature film 'Raja Harishchandra' in 1913!

After that during his film career..he made 26 short films and 95 movies.

The 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award' for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema, was instituted in his honour by the Government of India in 1969!

Swapna Waghmare-Joshi written & directed 'Miawaa'..was lovable actor Swapnil Joshi's first romantic lead with famous Sonalee Kulkarni! That was a triangular love story 
in which that time new Prarthana Behere appeared on screen with both of them!

"It's intense romantic film in which sacrifice has great importance!" said Swapnil about 'Mitawaa' that time and Sonalee mentioned, 'It gave big scope for her hidden emotional talent!' Prarthana also expressed her views about the sensibility in the role she played!

BENGALI ACTRESS MADHABI MUKHERJEE..NOW 75+!


Veteran Bengali actress Madhabi Mukherjee.

'Charulata' fame veteran Bengali actress..Madhabi Mukherjee today celebrated her 77th Birthday!

Madhabi Mukherjee in Mrinal Sen's 'Baishey Shravan' (1960).
Well known for her critically acclaimed roles in Bengali cinema..Madhabi Mukherjee began acting on stage and in 1950 appeared on screen as child artist in Premendra Mitra's Bengali film..

Madhabi Mukherjee in Ritwik Ghatak's 'Subarnarekha' (1962).

After ten years she got major roles in sensible filmmakers of Bengali.. cinema.. first was in  
Mrinal Sen's 'Baishey Shravan' (1960)..and second in Ritwik Ghatak's 'Subarnarekha' (1962) which was a third film in socio-economical trilogy!
Madhabi Mukherjee in Satyajit Ray's 'Charulata' (1964).

With 'Mahanagar' (1963).. Madhabi Mukherjee started working with renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray! She mentioned about it, "This was the first woman-centered screenplay I had!" Then in 1964 her famous character came..'Charulata' which Ray made on Bengali novel 'Nastanirh' wrote by great Rabindranath Tagore!..And she superbly portrayed this lonely wife who loves creative things!

Then she did notable roles in films like..Mrinal Sen's 'Calcutta 71', Manu Sen's 'Biraj Bou' & Purnendu Patri's 'Streer Patra' (1972), Tarun Majumdar's 'Ganadevata' (1978), Tapan Sinha's 'Bancharamer Bagan' (1980) and Rituparno Ghosh's 'Utsab' (2000) which I saw in 'MAMI's film festival, Mumbai!..After that I also met her in 'NFAI', Pune!


She won 'Best Actress National Award' for her role in
Bimal Bhowmik's Bengali film 'Dibratrir Kabya' (1973). Her films screened in prestigious film festivals here and abroad!

In 1995..
Madhabi Mukherjee wrote her autobiography 'Ami Madhabi'!

MEMORY OF ROSE!

Today Valentine's week started..And it's Rose Day!

On this occasion I remembered one nice moment..which was not exactly related to 'expressing love'! 

Almost 30 years ago..I gave Rose to my best (girl) friend on her birthday..and that time other friends from group smiled with 'different meaning'! 
I was surprised..because 'that thing' was not in my mind!

But now I realised that I missed precious in my love life!!

Son of (late) Vishnupant Damle, one of the founders of 'Prabhat Film Company'..
He acted as child artist in landmark films like 'Sant Tukaram' (1936) & 'Kunku' (1937). Both the movies critically acclaimed here and were shown at 'Venice International Film Festival'!

I still remember meeting Damlesaheb in 'Prabhat's anniversary ceremony held at.. 
'FTII', Pune long back!
