"To be..or not to be..that is the question.!"

And this role greatly performed by English theatre legend Laurence Olivier in he produced-directed & acted film 'Hamlet' (1948)..For this he won 'Oscar's Best Actor Award!

Just found this old photograph in which..I am with then director of our - 'International Film Festival of India' (IFFI)..Malti Sahai & 'Doordarshan's famous English news reader of her time..Dolly Thakore at Dilli Haat, 1996.

Smt. Sahai (with knowledge of cinema) was the best director of 'IFFI' ever I know!

LOVE AND CHAPLIN!

Today is birth anniversary of silent cinema's master..Charlie Chaplin!

On this occasion I remembered my favourite romantic film of him..'City Lights' (1931).

Here are two contrast scenes from this film..

First is tramp showing his love towards sightless flower girl.

Second is flower girl can not recognise tramp after her sight restored!

Beautiful Virginia Cherrill portrayed this character sensibly with comic Chaplin in it!

This was the first time..writer-producer-director Chaplin composed the music also!

KUROSAWA'S ACTOR..TOSHIRO MIFUNE!

This is a Birth Centenary of legendary Japanese Actor Toshiro Mifune!

Toshiro Mifune in Kurosawa's film 'Seven Samurai' (1954).

He was favourite actor of great Japanese filmmaker Akira - Kurosawa & they collaborated for 16 films in which includes famous 'Rashomon' & 'Seven Samurai'! 
He also worked with some other directors and did over 150 films!

FILM..BAPU WATCHED!

This is a rare still of one of the highest grossing Indian mythological films 'Ram Rajya' (1943). Sensible director Vijay Bhatt's in this film Pem Adib - did role of Ram and Shobhna Samarth portrayed Seeta!

This film used term "Ram Rajya"..which Mahatma Gandhi used to define our nation! According to history this was the only film..Bapuji watched!

It's surprising!!
