 My golden memory with great Mrinal Sen ji in our 'IFFI'!

This is 100th Birth Anniversary year of the legend of our Indian Parallel Cinema.. great Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen!

Since his first film 'Raat Bhore' (1955)..Mrinalda contributed his outstanding cinematic excellence..for the past more than 50 years! His landmark film 'Bhuvan Shome' (1969) initiated 'New Wave' in our Indian Cinema!

Mrinalda's cinema is known for it's artistic depiction of social reality! And his famous 'Calcutta Trilogy' (1971-73) focused on the socio-economical & political situation!

Almost all films of Mrinalda..from 'Akash Kusum' (1965) to 'Khandhar' (1984) won National Awards! And also got recognition at International Film Festivals with awards like..in Moscow for 'Chorus' (1975), in Berlin for 'Akaler Sandhane' (1981), in Cannes for 'Kharij' (1983), in Venice for 'Ek Din Achanak' (1989) & at Cairo for 'Aamar Bhuban' (2002). In 1997 he was a jury at '20th Moscow International Film Festival'!

Mrinal Sen ji was honoured with the 'Padma Bhushan' & 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award' by our.. Government of India!

And he wrote his autobiography.. 'Always Being Born'!

Remembered an informal meeting to Mrinalda in our 'International Film Festival of India' long back!
