LEGENDARY FRENCH FILMMAKER..JEAN RENOIR!

 

Great French Filmmaker...Jean Renoir!

Today is 124th Birth Anniversary of one of the pioneers of French Cinema..
Jean Renoir!

Renoir's 'Madame Bovary' (1934) portrayed by Valentine Tessier!
Screenwriter, actor & filmmaker Renoir directed his first silent film 'Une Vie Sans Joie Or Catherine' in 1924 and then made his first sound film 'On Purge Bebe' ('Baby's Laxative') in 1931! He also made film on Gustave Flaubert's popular French novel 'Madame Bovary' in 1934!

Latter his films like 'Life Belongs to Us' (1936) reflected politics!

In 1949 he came to India and made his first colour film 'The River'..That time our renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray met him and got inspiration!

Renoir made more than 40 films in which his directorial work like 'La Grande Illusion' (1937) often cited as among greatest! He received 'Lifetime Achievement Academy Award' in 1975!

Renoir in his famous film 'The Rules of the Game' (1939).

Still remember his superb role as Octave in the masterpiece he made 'The Rules of the Game' (1939) which was a satire on contemporary French society!
