FIRST PAKISTANI FILM 'TERI YAAD'..70!
'Teri Yaad' was the first Pakistani feature film which released there in.. August, 1948 and their film industry completed 70 years!
After the partition Lahore became Pakistan's film production centre, so they call their film industry.. 'Lollywood'! Dewan Sardari Lal & D. P. Singha co-produced this industry's first film 'Teri Yaad' in 1948. The film was directed by.. Daud Chand. As title says this was love story which Sardari Lal wrote. Its screenplay was written by.. Khadim Mohiudin. For this Raza Mir did the cinematography and Muhammad Latif Durrani edited the film.
Our acting king Dilip Kumar's (Yusuf Khan) younger brother Nasir Khan was the hero of this film & beautiful Asha Posley (real name Sabira Begum) was heroine. Other artists acted in it were.. Jahangir, Nazar, Ghulam Qadir, Ragni, Shakir, Shola, Najma, Sardar and Ghulam Muhammad. It's lyrics were written & composed by Inayat Ali Nath and lead actress herself sung the title song!
On 7th August, 1948 the day of Eid-Ul-Fitr..this Hindi-Urdu film 'Teri Yaad' was premiered at 'Parbhat Theatre' in Lahore. Then film had successful screenings in Lahore, Quetta..and Dhaka (now in Bangladesh) too!
