I am remembering Saroj ji's rehearsals with actresses like.. Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla and others during the show.. 'Cinema Cinema' of Subhash Ghai at.. Mumbai in 1995.

Veteran English actor-singer..Leonard Whiting!

Leonard Whiting who superbly portrayed the Romeo in Franco Zeffirelli's popular film 'Romeo and Juiet' (1968)..has celebrated 70th birthday!

Pretty Olivia Hussey & Leonard Whiting 

as & in film 'Romeo and Juiet' (1968).

After that superhit film which earned him 'Golden Globe' - award English actor-singer Whiting acted on stage & in film. From Italian 'Giacomo Casanova: Childhood and Adolescence' (1969) to English 'Social Suicide' (2015) he did very few films. And he also acted in television shows like 'Frankenstein: The True Story'!

I still remember this handsome Romeo Leonard's innocent face while looking at pretty Juliet (Olivia Hussey) in balcony..and Romeo's famous quote in that..
"It is the East and
Juliet is the Sun!"

As a follower of Rabindra Sangeet, his songs came in that genre..
Hear he sung great "Vande Mataram.." from Hindi film 'Anandmath' (1952).

And I think his voice was like a introvert lover expressing love..

He became famous with hit film 'Titanic' (1997) for which he won two 'Oscar' awards!

Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet..romantic in film 'Titanic' (1997)

Before that James Horner scored for other Hollywood blockbusters like.. 'Braveheart' (1995). 

Then in his music.. 'Avatar' (2009) & offbeat 'A Beautiful Mind' (2001) were notable!

Great way of renowned Iranian filmmaker..Abbas Kiarostami!

Today is 80th Birth Anniversary of renowned Iranian poetic filmmaker.. Abbas Kiarostami!

film 'Where is the Friend's home' (1987).

He was one of the pioneering filmmakers of.. Iranian New Wave Cinema. His subjects mostly dealt with philosophical issues and carried poetic communication! 

The genre Kiarostami used was mixture of fiction & documentary. His cinematic treatment showed simplicity & complexity!

He got critical acclaim with his 'Koker Trilogy' - (1987–94) and films like 'Close-Up' (1990) & - 'Taste of Cherry' (1997). 

He directed films outside of Iran also. In this includes.. French & Italian art film.. 'Certified Copy' (2010) and French/Japanese romantic.. 'Like Someone in love' (2012).

In his journey as a filmmaker, he was mostly attached with.. child protagonists and conveyed a lot through them in his style of narrative!
