Today is birth anniversary of very graceful first female superstar of our Indian cinema..Naseem Banu! Her birth centenary (1916-2016) already over!
Pretty young Naseem Banu.

Born Roshan Ara..Naseem was a beauty queen of her time..who appeared on screen in Urdu/Hindi adaptation of Shakespear's 'Hamlet'...'Khoon Ka Khoon' (1935) with great Sohrab Modi..director of this film! After that under his 'Minerva Movietone' she acted in several films..in which a landmark was 'Pukar' (1939)..She portraited Empress Nur Jahan in it!

Naseem Banu's other notable films were 'Chal Chal re Naujawan' (1944), 'Anokhi Ada' (1948), 'Sheesh Mahal' (1950) & 'Shabistan' (1951). She co-starred with most of the top actors of that time..like Prithviraj Kapoor, Chandramohan & Ashok Kumar!

She was the mother of beautiful actress Saira Banu and mother-in-law of great actor Dilip Kumar!

Tribute to this Malika-e-husn..one of my most favourite actresses of golden era of Indian cinema!!
