Bollywood's popular playback singer...Udit Narayan Jha is now 63 and his playback singing career completed 30 years!

Aamir Khan performed Udit Narayan's first hit song..

"Papa kahete hain.." in 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (1988).

Born Nepali..Udit Narayan began his career in 1970 at 'Radio Nepal'! Then he sung many songs in Nepali, Maithili & Bhojpuri languages. In 1980 he came to Mumbai and got singing opportunity from music director Rajesh Roshan for Hindi film 'Unees Bees'!

Udit Narayan became famous with Mansoor Khan's hit film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (1988) which was Aamir Khan's debut film as hero! He proved the song he sung in the music of Aanand-Milind for it.."Papa kahete hain bada naam karega.."

After that he sung for leading and contemporary music directors 
and his songs from films like.. 'Dil', 'Aashiqui', 'Lagaan', 'Dil To Pagal Hai' & many..became hits! Among which one of my favourite songs is from 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999) "Chand chhupa badal mein sharama ke meri janaa.."

He also sung in other languages like.. Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Garhwali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese & Bengali. He also acted & sung for all time hit Nepali film 'Kusume Rumal' (1985).

Udit Narayan won three National Awards and five Filmfare Awards. In 2001 he was awarded the 'Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu' by the late King of Nepal Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev! In 2009 he was awarded 'Padma Shri' & in 2016 'Padma Bhushan' by Government of India!
