ASSAMESE MASTER FILMMAKER

JAHNU BARUA!



Birthday of one of the renowned filmmakers of our India & honourable friend Jahnu Barua just happened!

'Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai' (1987).
One of the pioneers of Assamese Art Cinema..Jahnu Barua wrote, directed, edited & produced his first feature film 'Aparoopa' (1982) which won 'Best Regional Film' national award! 

After that his film in social genre..'Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai' (1987) won 'Best Feature Film National Award'!

Barua's trilogy 'Xagoroloi Bohu Door' (1995), 'Pokhi' (1998) & 'Konikar Ramdhenu' (2003) also focused on socio-cultural scenario!

 'Bandhon' (2012).
He also made film in Hindi..in which his 'Maine Gandhi ko Nahin Mara' (2005) was on important human issue! And in 'Mumbai Cutting' (2010) he directed short film 'Anjana Dost' (2010) was notable!


His Assamese film 'Bandhon' (2012) was on the backdrop of 26/11 incident! Then 'Ajeyo' (2014) focused on the struggle of ideal revolutionary against social evil!
I am with Mr. Jahnu Barua.


Almost all of his films won national awards & international too!
And he received 'Padma Bhushan'!!

Always remember nice meetings him in the film festivals!
