HOMAGE TO AN ICON OF 'FRENCH NEW WAVE'.. FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT!

Today is 33rd Death Anniversary of renowned French Film Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Actor, Film Critic and one of the Pioneers of 'French New Wave'..Francois Roland Truffaut!

Jean-Pierre Leaud in Truffaut's film 'The 400 Blows' (1959).

His semi-autobiographical film 'The 400 Blows' (1959) was one of the defining films of the 'French New Wave'. In that film Jean-Pierre Leaud played the central role..and last year he was honoured in the 'Cannes Film Festival'!

Truffaut's film 'The Last Metro' (1980).

Truffaut's films like 'Stolen Kisses' (1968), 'The Wild Child' (1970), 'Two English Girls' (1971), 'Love on the Run' (1979) & 'The Last Metro' (1980) focused on the socio-political-cultural life through his kind of genre! He appeared in Steven Spielberg's film 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' (1977).

Jeanne Moreau in Truffaut's film 'Jules and Jim' (1962).
I could not meet him..but remember meeting (late) actress Jeanne Moreau of his classic film 'Jules and Jim' (1962)..in our 'International Film Festival of India' at New Delhi!

I published special issue of my film magazine 'Chitrasrushti' on the 'French New Wave' in 2008!

Homage to this genius filmmaker..Francois Truffaut!
