INTERNATIONAL ARTIST VICTOR BANERJEE!

Renowned Indian Actor, Cinematographer & Director Victor Banerjee now 71.!

Started acting in musical play..Victor Banerjee came on screen in 1977 with renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray's Urdu movie 'Shataranj Ke Khiladi'!

He soon appeared in Merchant-Ivory made English film "Hullabaloo Over Georgie and Bonnie's Pictures' (1978). Then acted in Shashi Kapoor Produced & Shyam Benegal directed film 'Kalyug' (1981). His characters in such films were royal like king or industrialist!

In 1984 he portrayed two critically acclaimed roles..One was free minded landlord in Satyajit Ray's national award winner Bengali film 'Ghare Baire'! And another was in renowned British filmmaker David Lean's international venture 'A Passage to India'..For this he got international recognition & awards like 'Showarama' by 'Motion Picture Association of America'!

He also acted in mainstream Bengali films like Sujit Guha's 'Aakrosh' (1989). Then he acted in (pioneer of our new wave cinema) Mrinal Sen's 'Mahaprithibi' (1992). Same time he was acting internationally like played role in French-Polish filmmaker Roman Polanski's movie 'Bitter Moon'!

After those films he worked in different genre of films..like light romantic 'Joggers Park' (2003), social 'My brother..Nikhil' (2005) & political thriller 'Sarkar Raj' (2008) directed by Ramgopal Verma! Also acted in other regional films like Assamese 'Ekhon Nedekha Nodir Xhipare' (2012).

He also cinematographed and directed films..And he is the only artist here who won 3 national awards in 3 categories..among which includes 'Best Supporting Actor' for film 'Ghare Baire', 'Best Cinematographer' for own documentary 'Where No Journeys End' & 'Best Director' for his documentary on Tourism 'The Splendour of Garhwal and Roopkund'! Apart from this he also got international awards!
