FRENCH HONOUR TO SANJNA KAPOOR!



Renowned beautiful artist, theatre personality and co-founder of 'Junoon' Ms. - Sanjna Kapoor has been awarded the prestigious French Honour for her contribution to Art!

Yesterday she received 'Chevaier dans l'Order des Arts et des Letters' award in the programme held at French Embassy!

BODOLAND AND CINEMA!


Renowned Filmmaker Jwangdo Bodosa..one of the pioneers of Bodo cinema!

Just saw news about 'Bodo Accord'!..And remembered meeting Jwangdo Bodosa..one of the pioneers of Bodo cinema..almost 25 years ago in our.. 'IFFI'!

After completing his mass-communication in 1982.. Jwangdo Bodosa did Film - Direction course from 'FTII', Pune. Then in 1986 he made 'Alayaron'..one of the first Bodo feature films. Based on short story 'Mwdwi Arw Gwlwmdwi' by Nikamal Brahma..this film reflects the soul of Bodos! 
This won 'Best Bodo Film' National award!

His next film came after a decade 'Hagramayao Jinahari' (1995)..which was about indiscriminate destruction of forest in Bodoland area of Assam! With English title 'Rape in the virgin forest'..this film also focused issue of exploitation of Bodo people! This won national award for 'Best Film on Environment'!

After that Bodosa made films.. 'Gwdan Muga' (2001) & '3 Girls and the Golden Cocoon' (2005) with different genre.

I met Bodosa and his artist wife..after the screening of their film 'Hagramayao Jinahari' in our '27th International Film Festival of India' held at New Delhi in 1996.


Jwangdo Bodosa is now 60!

25 Years Ago..

My photo with showman of bollywood..popular filmmaker Subhash Ghai.. which was taken in 1995 when he presented 'Cinema Cinema' programme on the occasion of 100 years of cinema during our '26th International Film Festival of India' held at Mumbai.

Today Mr. Ghai turns 75!

I wrote a lot on him!!

GERMAN CINEMA STALWART WILL GET 'ASC' HONOUR!


Veteran German filmmaker Werner Herzog while filming documentary!

Notable that 'American Society of Cinematographers' (ASC) will honour.. renowned filmmaker of New German Cinema..Werner Herzog soon in this month at Hollywood!

Young Werner Herzog on location of his film!
Herzog is one of the leading filmmakers of postwar West - German Cinema Movement.!
His films often - feature ambitious protagonists with impossible dreams and individuals in conflict with nature like in 'Aguirre, the Wrath of God' (1972) & 'Fitzcarraldo' (1982). His offbeat film 'Invincible' (2001) tells the real story of a Jewish strongman in Germany!

Herzog also made powerful documentaries like 'Lessons of Darkness' (1992), 'Grizzly - Man' (2005) & 'Encounters at the End of the World' (2007). In almost 60 years of his film career he made more than 60 films & won various awards!

Pretty legend of screen..Maude Mary Hawk!

Almost 50 years over..she left this world..but cinema world can not forget her great beauty! She was an American pretty stage-film actress..Maude Mary Hawk..famous as Maude Fealy!

Pretty mood of Maude Fealy!
Up to 1900 she worked with her mother on the Broadway. Then in 1911 she appeared on silent film screen by 'Thanhouser Studios'! 
In that silent era she acted films includes.. 'Moths' (1913), 'Pamela Congreve' (1914), 
'The Immortal Fame' (1916) and 'American Consul' (1917) in which actors Theodore Roberts & Ernest Joy worked with her!

Maude Fealy also worked in sound era after 'Laugh and Get Rich' (1931). 
Then her notable talkies were...
famous 'Paramount Pictures' made 'The Buccaneer' (1938), great filmmakers like Cecil B. DeMille made 'Union Pacific' - (1939) & 'The Ten Commandments' - (1956) and George Cukor made 'Gaslight' (1944) & 'Double Life' (1947).

In the first decades of the 20th century..Soviet/Russian great theatre - personality and character artist Konstantin Stanislavsky introduced...
the system of 'Method Acting'! In this an actor aspires to complete - emotional identification with a part..he/she plays!

Polish-American theatre practitioner 
and actor Lee Strasberg!
Greek-American filmmaker 
and actor Elia Kazan!
This method latter developed by Polish-American theatre - practitioner & actor Lee Strasberg and Greek-American - filmmaker & actor Elia Kazan!

This method is then associated with great actors..like American Marlon Brando, Dustin Hoffman & Indian Dilip Kumar!

Now this century old 'Method Acting' has got high respect in the world of acting!
