Daughter of first Prime Minister of our India..Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru..Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was elected Congress President in 1959. Then in 1964 she was 
appointed as member of the Rajya Sabha..
And she became Information & Broadcasting Minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Shri. 
Lal Bahadur Shastri!

First & to date only female Prime Minister of India..Smt. Indira Gandhi!

In 1966 Shrimati Indira Gandhi became the first and to date the only female Prime Minister of our India! Then from 1966 to 1977 and 1980 to 1984  as Prime Minister she served dynamically! Her thoughts about strong secular India are still very relevant!

In 1971 Shrimati Indira Gandhi was honoured with the highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna'!
