English filmmaker David Lean's film 'Lawrence of Arabia' (1962).

Our acting king Dilip Kumar was not only the first choice of our classic filmmakers, but renowned foreign filmmakers were also interested in casting him for great roles!

Renowned English filmmaker David Lean wanted Dilip Kumar to portray important role in his milestone historical epic film.. 'Lawrence of Arabia' (1962). Shakespearean actor Peter O'Toole was portraying the title role of it. So Lean wanted great actor to play the role of Lawrence's guide Tafas and he - thought Dilip Kumar perfect for it. But our acting king turned him down! Then that role went to great Egyptian actor Omar Sharif and he made his way to Hollywood!

Another exclusive story is about our Big B! In 80s our superstar Amitabh Bachchan was also - offered role by the Hollywood filmmakers. They wanted to cast him opposite great Mexican actor Anthony Quinn who was ready! They came to Bombay & discussed with Bachchan. Unfortunatelly he did not have dates! Upset they only sent him bouquet with note "Mr. Film Industry of India!" and left Bombay!

But I always think that Amitabh Bachchan should do the role - (which earlier Anthony Quinn did) 'Zorba the Greek' here! Few years back I asked him about it in press interaction & he said "Let us see!" with smile!
