DANIEL NADAR ROOTED MALAYALAM CINEMA..90!
Daniel Nadar established first film studio 'The Travancore National Pictures' in 1926 at Kerala. Then he wrote script of his first film 'Vigathakumaran' which was silent and without dialogues. He directed this film and played protagonist in it. With him P. K. Rosie was a female lead!
'Vigathkumaran' means 'The Lost Child'..this film was a social drama! Daniel Nadar
also edited this film with required post production. After all
difficulties he exhibited this film at 'Capitol Theatre' in
Trivandrum! Unfortunately its copy not exists..a lost film!
In 2013 filmmaker Kamal (K.M. Majeed) made 'Celluloid' about the struggle of Daniel Nadar to produce first film in Kerala. I have seen this in festival and admired the great work of this father of Malayalam Cinema!
A Tribute!!
