Today is 151st Birth Anniversary of Father of our Indian Cinema.. Dadasaheb Phalake!

Dhundiraj Govind (Dadasaheb) Phalake made our India's first full-length feature film..

'Raja Harishchandra' in 1913!

 

Phalke was complete film maker who did screenwriting, direction and editing of his own films. 

He made 95 movies and 26 short films in his career.. spanning 19 years. 

 

His last silent film was 'Setubandhan' (1932) which was later released with dubbing!..And at the end of his film career he made 'Gangavataran' (1937) movie with sound!

'The Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime contribution to cinema' was instituted in his honour by Government- of India in 1969!

Phalkeji should be conferred the 'BharatRatna' posthumously!
