Our Marathi Cinema legend Bhalji Pendharkar's 123rd birth anniversary recently happened! And I remembered how Raj Kapoor did his early role Narad in Baba's film almost 75 years ago!

In 1946 "Baba" Bhalji Pendharkar wrote-directed Hindi film 'Maharshi Valmiki' and theatre legend Prithviraj Kapoor portrayed title role!..With him son Raj Kapoor also did role of Narad in it! Artists like Baburao Pendharkar and Shanta Apte were also the part of this film.

After the completion of film..Bhalji wanted to pay honourarium to Kapoor father-son but Prithvirajji refused to take money..because they were family - friends and fondly calls him "Mamaji"!

Then Bhalji insisted on gifting some of his land in Bombay..
And Kapoorji accepted that! 
Raj Kapoor built 'RK Studio' on that same land at Chembur!

That is followup story behind formation of famous 'RKStudio'! I have read and heard this!!

History lover Baba was also known as..Daanshoor!
